Before joining my internship at Etherlogic Pty Ltd, I expected the experience to mainly focus on improving my technical skills, particularly in backend development and software systems. I believed that most of my work would involve coding tasks under close supervision, with limited responsibility. I also expected a structured environment where tasks would be clearly assigned, and guidance would always be available. My primary goal was to gain practical experience and understand how software development operates in a professional setting.
However, the reality of the internship was more dynamic and challenging than I had anticipated. While I did work on technical tasks such as backend development, data processing, and system maintenance, I was also required to work independently and manage my own workload. As the internship was conducted in a remote and flexible environment, I had to communicate proactively with team members, clarify requirements, and organise my time effectively. Compared to my expectations, the workplace was less structured but offered more opportunities for self-directed learning and problem-solving.
